In the 14th century, Ali Tabrizi, an Iranian calligraphy master, created a new form of writing called Nastaliq (also known as the "Bride of Scripts") by combining and modifying two existing scripts: Talig and Naskh.
When practicing the art of Nastaliq, the calligrapher must keep in mind the essential twelve principles, which not only govern the calligraphy, but are defined as ways of developing one's character.
